Mentors work on reading skills and build caring, positive relationships. If you can read, you can do this! Training and supplies are provided. All you have to do is show up!

How you help

You can change a child’s life by simply sharing your valuable skill of reading with them, and by becoming that support system and role model they need to succeed.

About us

It all started when…
Dayton Whiz Kids, a ministry of Community Church in Riverside, Ohio, began in 2014 as a site for the Whiz Kids program out of the City Gospel Mission in Cincinnati, Ohio. After two years we were “birthed” out of the Cincinnati program and began serving the Riverside area in partnership with the Mentoring Collaborative of Montgomery County and the Miami Valley Leadership Foundation. Since then we have served hundreds of children and their families. We strive to present Jesus in a safe environment, help the children improve their reading skills through one-on-one reading help and serve their families as the Lord leads.
