Direct Care Volunteer

In 2024, make volunteering your New Year’s Resolution.

Volunteering Makes the Perfect New Years Resolution.  Volunteering is the perfect New Years Resolution because volunteerism provides countless benefits for our community, and the health and happiness of people who commit to sharing themselves as a volunteer. Make a resolution you won’t regret: giving back. Volunteering can be as big or as small a commitment as time allows, but it’s always time worth spending. Not only are you lending a hand to those in need, you’re guaranteed to feel good about it, too.

Make this the best year yet. Give the gift of kindness all year long by making a resolution to volunteer with Gentiva Hospice in 2024.

Visit with Hospice patients

Volunteers are the Heart of Hospice, aiding families and individuals facing life-changing situations.” The heart of a volunteer is not measured in size, but by the depth of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of others” Deann Hollis. Anyone with a compassionate heart is capable of volunteering. It doesn’t take much to be a hospice volunteer- just an open Heart and willing hands. If you can offer a smile, hold a hand, share a hug, take a walk or simply listen – you can volunteer with us.

Volunteers are LOVE in motion! Volunteers generously donate their time to enhance the quality of care provided to patients and their families. It doesn’t take much to be a hospice volunteer- just an everyday person with a Heart big enough to make a difference that lasts a lifetime.

How you help

“When I realized that a lot of people die alone, it broke my heart. As a hospice volunteer, I have the opportunity to put smiles on faces just by helping to put a puzzle together, watch a TV show, or just share stories. The reward is the smiles on their faces, the bonds that we form, and knowledge that we gain, and I wouldn’t trade that.”
