FISH was organized as a nonprofit in 1969 by a group of Huber Heights residents who became aware of the need of hungry families. When it was chartered Huber Heights had not yet incorporated as a city, so the group used the name Wayne FISH. Officially we retain that name however many think of us as Huber Heights FISH. In 1982, we joined the Hunger Coalition making it possible to use the facilities of The Food Bank of Dayton to obtain food supplies. When we were founded, the pantry was located in various members’ homes. When we joined the Hunger Coalition it moved to Kitty Hawk Elementary School on Harshmanville Rd. for a year. We relocated to St. Timothy Lutheran Church on Rye Drive. A year later it moved back to Kitty Hawk Elementary School. It remained there until 2010. Kitty Hawk was one of the schools to be rebuilt so at the end of February FISH moved. Wishing to continue their cooperation with FISH, Huber Heights City School District, agreed to relocate FISH to Studebaker Middle School.
