Ways to help | Greeter (Adoption and Front Desk Assistance)To ensure that all members of the public are greeted upon arrival, giving them a positive first impression of SICSA and guaranteeing an excellent customer service experience.PAW Partners: SocialTo bring the joy and comfort of animal companionship to residents in nursing homes and hospitals with SICSA’s adoptable animals, as well as providing socialization for the animal.Cat Kennel VolunteerTo ensure that all cat kennel areas are clean and presentable to the public and that cats are well socialized, increasing their chances of adoption.Foster VolunteerFoster Care providers are volunteers who foster homeless puppies, dogs, cats and kittens in their home for a short period of time until the animals are able to be adopted. Volunteers ensure the proper care of these animals while they are in their home.Admin Volunteer PageTo work with our office staff (specifically the Community Engagement team) to assist with the planning and organization of special events, fundraising initiatives, or various other office projects.Youth Programs VolunteerTo assist with our Youth Programs, including birthday parties, mini-camps, tours, and SICSA Saturday programming.Paw Partners: ActiveTo help SICSA dogs enjoy time outside of the facility and expend energy, which helps make them more comfortable and adoptable at SICSA.VolunTEEN ProgramTeens ages 13-17 can make a difference for animals! They can choose to volunteer independently as their schedule allows, and participate in our Teen Animal Inspired Leaders Society Club. Teen Advocates can choose to participate in additional training, animal welfare and humane education programs, teen-led fundraisers, field trips, and social events.Friends of SICSA (FOS) MemberTo make and sell crafts at local bazaars and festivals and other fundraising activities, with proceeds to benefit SICSA Pet Adoption Center.Offsite Event VolunteerTo represent SICSA by taking adoptable animals into the community to attract potential adopters, as well as educate members of the general public about SICSA’s animal welfare programs.Dog Kennel VolunteerHelp ensure that all dogs are taken on a minimum four short walks a day, while socializing and training the dogs using positive reinforcement to increase adoptability.Foster VolunteerFoster Volunteers care for homeless puppies, dogs, cats and kittens in their home for a short period of time until the animals are adopted. We are happy to accommodate Foster Volunteers and schedules in a variety of ways.Kids Volunteer ProgramKids between the ages of 8-12 can participate in cat and dog kennel activities or Paw Partners with their parent or guardian. Our Parent-Youth-Partner Program (PYPer) teaches children the importance of treating animals humanely and will prepare them for the responsibility of owning a pet, while allowing them to work side-by-side with a parent or guardian. |

How you help | With the the 20,509 volunteer hours that were contributed; 3,413 spay & neuter surgeries and 1,608 adoptions in 2017 were accomplished. We know SICSA is successful because of our amazing community. |

About us | In 1974, a group of dedicated individuals committed to offering Kettering Ohio, Dayton and the Miami Valley an alternative to the traditional animal welfare system, came together and created the Society for the Improvement of Conditions for Stray Animals (SICSA). |
